On the 21st of October the Russian Centre of Science and Culture hosted a Classical music concert “Autumn colours” performed by National and International competition winners, young musicians from the “Chopin Society of Malaysia”.

Persatuan Chopin Malaysia was officially registered as a non-profit organisation on the 23rd of September, 2002. The Malaysian chapter is part of an international network of Chopin Societies in more than 60 countries which come under the International Federation of Chopin Societies (IFCS). The Patron of the IFCS is Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands and its headquarters is in Vienna. Over the years, the RCSC cooperates with the society in the organization of performances by professional musicians as well as talented children of Malaysia.

Young musicians Rayyan Anwar, Zhi Ren Cheong, Tengku Hadif, Jasmine Chiang and others performed classical music works written by Russian and foreign composers – F. Mendelson, S. Rachmaninov, F. Chopin. At the end of the concert for the first time in Malaysia Igor Stravinski’s work “Maslenitsa” from the ballet “Petroushka” was brilliantly played by the young musician Brian Ting.

The audience, including local and foreign music society members, Russian compatriots, parents and relatives of young musicians awarded them with the loud applause after each performance.

Traditional evenings of classical music at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture introduce classical works written by great Russian and foreign composers to the local public and strengthen educational and musical relations between Russia and Malaysia.
