On 22nd of April, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre held a press conference on a tour presentation of Saint Petersburg Theatre “Russian Ballet”, which will take place from 11 to 12 of October this year in Malaysia. St Petersburg Theatre Russian Ballet has come to an agreement with Malaysia’s The Dance Company (TDC) to jointly organize the Asian World Premiere for the classic piece “The Sleeping Beauty”. The conference was attended by The Dance Company director Shannon Lee and Dance Artistry International president Aundrey Kwan, Russia and CIS tourism ambassador of Malaysia Datuk Nargiz Safarova, The Head of Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Malaysia Ayrat A. Akhmetov, deputy director of the theater “Russian Ballet” Lilia Kiseleva, the soloists of the theatre Anna and Alexander Voitin. After the opening ceremony and photo session, all the questions regarding upcoming tour in Malaysia have been answered by the members of the conference.
The famous theatre “Russian Ballet” was created in 1990 by the family of professional ballet dancers and the dynasty is more than 100 years old. Today, the repertoire of the theatre includes most of the classical ballet pieces, including The Sleeping Beauty – a fairytale about princes Aurora and the prince who saved her, which will be presented to Malaysian public.
The press conference received positive feedback from local media and Malaysian publics, since it is the first tour of St Petersburg Theatre Russian Ballet in Malaysia and also the first performance of The Sleeping Beauty in Asia.
